A window cleaner who has been cleaning Wolverhampton's street signs voluntarily has said: "It keeps me happy, just keeping the place clean."

Owen James has been doing it for the past two years and posts photos of the results on social media.

He said he had had "loads of comments" from people thanking him for his efforts and that "it's a great feeling" to get the recognition.

Mr James said he had not spoken to the local authority about his work, but added: "We're happy doing our bit for the community."

He uses chemicals to remove algae on the signs and said it annoyed him to see them dirty.

"No-one else wants to do it, so someone's got to," he said.

The City of Wolverhampton Council has been approached for comment.
