Scooter rider in his 70s dies after crash with car

A man has died following a crash between a scooter and a car.

Wiltshire Police were called to the collision between a Honda WW 125 scooter and a Ford Focus at about 11:20 BST on the B4553 near Down Farm, Purton, on Tuesday.

The rider of the Honda, a man in his 70s, was declared dead at the scene, while the driver of the Ford, a woman in her 40s, was uninjured.

The force said the man's next of kin had been informed and no arrests had been made.

A road closure put in place at the junction of Collins Lane and Packhorse Lane to allow investigation work to take place has since been lifted.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or may have dashcam footage is urged to contact the police.
