Two more people have been charged as part of a police investigation into disturbances in Staffordshire.

David Jordan, 59, of Tamworth, has been charged with violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.

Dillan Bahruzi, 38, of Sneyd Green, Stoke-on-Trent, has also been charged with violent disorder.

More than 40 people have been arrested following the disorder in Stoke-on-Trent and Tamworth, with 12 people charged so far, a spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said.

The disorder in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, broke out on 3 August with missiles hurled at police as hundreds of people protested.

Rioters were seen throwing petrol bombs at the Holiday Inn Express hotel in Tamworth a day later, with one officer suffering a suspected broken arm.

The hotel was being used to house asylum seekers waiting for their leave-to-remain cases to be dealt with.

Mr Jordan has been remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Stafford Crown Court on Tuesday, police said.

Mr Bahruzi was also remanded in custody and he is next expected to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 16 September, the force added.
