Detectives investigating the suspected murder of a woman said police would remain at the scene but reassured residents not to be alarmed.
The 61-year-old woman's body was found at a house in Apple Tree Close, Bromyard, Herefordshire, at about 06:00 BST on Saturday.
A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remained in custody. Police said people should not be concerned to see officers at the property as they were supporting the inquiry.
Det Insp Joanne Delahay said: "An incident such as this brings huge concern to the local community and I would like to offer our reassurance that there is no wider threat to members of the public."
"Our thoughts remain with the family and friends who are coming to terms with this tragic event in which a woman has sadly lost her life," she added.
