A haul of fake designer clothes, watches, trainers and perfumes that could have been sold for up to £2m has been seized from a shop in Farnworth.

The seizure included counterfeit Ugg boots, Gucci shirts, and Tiffany and Chanel perfumes.

It was found during a raid on a shop in Market Street in Farnworth, Bolton, by police and Trading Standards officers on 24 August.

They searched the shop after a tip-off from a member of the public.

The council and police have said the combined street value of the products would be around £2m

A spokesperson for Bolton Council there were also fake designer clothes, watches, trainers, cigarettes, tobacco, and vapes.

Sue Haworth, Bolton Council’s cabinet member for regulatory services, said: “This is a fantastic result for our trading standards team and an example of great partnership work with the police.

"Fake products may seem harmless but they are often sold by groups linked to organised crime.

"It’s also worth remembering fake cosmetics and tobacco products are not regulated and can be harmful to health.

"We will continue to work with the police to stamp out this illegal trading in Bolton to protect the public and those businesses who trade legally."

Bolton Council said anyone who knows or suspects counterfeit goods are being sold in the borough should contact trading standards.
