Plans to build almost 500 homes put forward

Residents have raised fears about an increase in traffic and demands on services after plans to build nearly 500 homes was submitted.
The homes, to be built on fields near Coventry, form the second phase of the Pickford Gate housing development, which could eventually have 2,400 homes, shops and a new school.
A quarter of the proposed homes would be affordable housing and a fifth of those for sale would be between two and a half and three storeys high.
A statement by architects IDP Group on behalf of BDW said plans would address an “identified housing need” in the area.
Outline plans were agreed in 2021 and the latest application is to build between Pickford Brook and Pickford Green Lane.
A survey on the plans aimed at residents received 14 responses and most did not support the application.
They raised concerns about the impact on services and an increase in traffic.
This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service which covers councils and other public service organisations.
