Frankie raised more than £5,000 for Dougie Mac with her climb

A six-year-old has raised thousands for a hospice who cared for her nan after climbing Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) with her father.

Frankie, from Stone, Staffordshire, collected more than £5,000 for the Dougie Mac after her nan was diagnosed with cancer in October 2023 and died in July 2024.

Dad, Nick, said the nurses had been "brilliant" in supporting his mother with end-of-life care.

He added the climb had given the family something positive to focus on: "We just thought, who better to raise the money for?"

Following her nan's death, Frankie said: "I want to raise money for poorly people," Nick explained.

"I sort of flippantly said, let's climb Snowdown," he added.

Nick says he is "so proud" of Frankie and what she achieved

The day they climbed Wales' highest mountain was also the first anniversary of his mother's death.

"Obviously you go through a world of emotions," he said.

It was something Frankie would be able to look back on, he said, adding he did not think she fully appreciated what she had achieved.

"I'm so proud of her, she just smashed it," he said.

"She kept going, up until probably the last half a mile - she never stopped."
