A story trail is returning to Jersey to help inspire children to read while enjoying the outdoors.

Jersey charity Every Child Our Future said it was the third year of running the story trail at the Millennium Park in Jersey.

It said the trail would start with Superworm by Julia Donaldson, illustrated by Axel Scheffler, and families would be able to follow the story page by page on display boards in the park.

Programme manager Emma Firth said the charity was "thrilled" to be running a trail again.

She said: "Using a much-loved story like Superworm in such a family-friendly space gives children a fun and memorable way to connect with books, while encouraging outdoor exploration and shared experiences."

The event is part of the REAL in the Park event at the Jersey Festival of Words which takes place on Saturday.

Festival director Pippa Les Quesne said: "The Festival of Words is all about celebrating stories in every form.

"The story trail is a wonderful way of taking stories out of books and into the community, helping children and families enjoy literature in an interactive and playful way."
