Man rescued by lifeboat after three hours in river
- Published
A lifeboat crew has rescued a man who spent three hours in the waters of the Humber estuary.
Humber Rescue were called out at 02:37 GMT on Thursday and carried out a search alongside other lifeboats and the Coastguard helicopter.
The man was located after workers at the Humber Sea Terminal in North Killingholme heard cries for help.
He was rescued from the water and treated by emergency teams.
The independent lifeboat, based by the Humber Bridge, said the water temperature of 8°C meant a usual survival time of about 30 to 90 minutes.
Coxswain Ian Bennett said: "With water temperatures so low, every minute counted.
"This rescue is a testament to the skill, determination and teamwork of everyone involved."
The crew were called to another incident shortly afterwards, their 109th of the year so far.
