Woman dies days after Cork city centre assault

A woman in her 30s who was injured in an assault in Cork city centre on Sunday has died from her injuries.
She has been been named locally as 36-year-old Vanessa O'Callaghan, according to Irish broadcaster RTÉ, external.
It said she had used homeless services for a number of years and was found lying unresponsive on the ground after a row broke out near a soup kitchen.
The fatal assault happened near the Savoy cinema on St. Patrick Street some time between 19:15 and 20:15 local time on Sunday.
Gardaí (Irish police) said she died from her injuries on Wednesday.
They have appealed to anyone who was near the scene of the attack, or who has dash-cam footage of the incident, to contact them.
