The health service is calling in equipment including crutches, shower stools and commodes that have been handed out to patients and never returned.

The two-week "amnesty" will run from 2 to 13 December, the Government of Jersey said.

People have been asked to return items "in good condition" to Health and Community Services at the main reception of the Enid Quenault Health and Wellbeing Centre.

They will be accepted from Monday to Friday between 10:00 and 15:00 GMT.

Those with large pieces of equipment or several items that need to be returned, are asked to contact the occupational therapy team to arrange for them to be picked up.

The government said those items could be assessed and "valeted" to be re-used.

It said items with rust or wear should be disposed of in the appropriate area at La Collette.
