A West Sussex council has secured an injunction following unauthorised works and the presence of caravans on land.
Chichester District Council (CDC) was granted a permanent injunction by the High Court on Tuesday which blocks new works and prevents vehicles and caravans entering a site near Lurgashall.
The judge also awarded costs of £53,000 to CDC.
"This is a significant step in protecting our countryside," said Councillor Bill Brisbane, Cabinet Member for Planning at CDC.
The council was initially made aware of unauthorised works at the site, which is in the South Downs National Park, on 2 May.
CDC said planning enforcement officers were sent out immediately to assess the situation, which led to a Temporary Stop Notice being served.
When this notice was breached, the council escalated the matter by seeking and securing an interim injunction from the High Court in London on 9 May.
CDC said it will continue to engage with local residents, parish councils, and those currently on the site.
A spokesperson added is working closely with the South Downs National Park Authority to ensure the matter is resolved appropriately and in line with planning regulations.
