A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed to death in a port town.
The victim was “assaulted by three unknown men” in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, at about 20:20 BST on Wednesday, police said.
He was taken to hospital with several stab wounds after the attack on Summertrees Road but later died.
Cheshire Police appealed for witnesses and urged anyone with information to come forward.
Ch Supt Jon Betts said: “I understand the concern that this incident is likely to cause, and I want to reassure the local community that we are working hard to establish exactly what has taken place.”
He said officers would continue to patrol the area and added he was keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed what happened, and anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage.
