Rugby league legend and fundraiser Kevin Sinfield will complete his latest ultra-marathon challenge with a community Christmas race, it has been announced.

The Leeds Santa Dash, on Sunday 7 December, will see Sinfield finish his seventh ultra-marathon in seven days.

Sinfield has raised more than £10m for motor neurone disease (MND) related causes after his friend and former Leeds Rhinos team-mate Rob Burrow, who died last year, was diagnosed with the condition in 2019.

The 3km (1.9-mile) Santa Dash will start at Leeds Beckett University's Headingley campus at 14:00 GMT.

The race is open to anyone regardless of age and ability, and participants will be given a Father Christmas outfit alongside their entry.

All profits raised from the Santa Dash will go towards MND charities.

Sinfield, who has previously completed the ultra-marathon task on five occasions, said: "Each 7 in 7 Challenge is a huge team effort and it will be brilliant to welcome even more people to take part and show their support for the MND community with the inclusion of the Santa Dash on our final leg this December.

"Especially in the build-up to Christmas, I hope as many people as possible will be on the streets of Headingley to cheer on those taking part in the Santa Dash and it is a great occasion."
