The tip is set to close for essential works

A recycling and household waste site is set to close for about three months so essential works can be carried out.

Leicestershire County Council confirmed that Oadby Recycling and Household Waste Site in Wigston Road will close from 29 July.

The works will replace a 20-year-old concrete floor on the lower level of the site "to ensure the site is sustainable and remains safe for staff and users", the council said.

All waste permits valid at the site will be accepted at any other county council waste site for the first two weeks of the closure, and the Oadby site is expected to reopen in October.

Charles Whitford, cabinet member for highways, transport and waste, said: "We appreciate that this will cause some inconvenience to people who use the Recycling and Household Waste Site at Oadby and apologise for the disruption, but closing the site is the only way to complete these essential works."
