A bulldog which has been rescued from the streets of a north Wales town is “constantly wagging its tail” despite being found so thin its ribs can be seen sticking out underneath its skin.

The RSPCA has launched an appeal after a member of the public found the malnourished animal near Princes Street and Elwy Street in Rhyl, Denbighshire.

Rescue officer John Littlewood said “The dog is very underweight and is not in a good condition - you can see every rib sticking out of his body and he is weak. But he is a very friendly dog and is constantly wagging his tail.

“He wouldn’t have gotten this skinny overnight and it is concerning that he may have been in this state for some time."

The charity believes the dog could have been in a bad state for a significant period of time.

“He might be a stray dog or he may have been abandoned,” said Mr Littlewood.

“But he is a very friendly dog and is constantly wagging his tail.”

The dog is currently at a vets in Colwyn Bay, and the RSPCA is asking anyone with information about the dog’s history to contact them.
