A 20-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with the separate stabbings of two men at Oxford Circus Underground station.

Mohamed Yousif, from Winns Mews in Tottenham, appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Wednesday charged with two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, one count of common assault and one of possession of a bladed article. He is also accused of one count of theft.

Police were called to reports of stabbings in the early hours of 30 and 31 August. A 41-year-old man and a 23-year old man were treated at hospital for stabbing injuries.

Yousif was remanded in custody until 2 October when he will appear at Inner London Crown Court.

British Transport Police officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.
