A dog walker was left with serious injuries after being attacked by three men who were riding on a single motorcycle, police have said.

The victim, a man in his 60s, was walking a dog on common land next to Quarry Moor Lane in Ripon, near Outwood Primary Academy Greystone, at about 19:35 BST on Sunday when the assault took place, North Yorkshire Police said.

The man needed hospital treatment for facial injuries after being attacked by a man wielding a white crash helmet, a force spokesperson said.

Anyone who saw what happened or who saw the assailants, who were all riding a single red and white petrol-engined dirt bike, leaving the scene was asked to get in touch.

The force spokesperson said the main suspect was a white man, about 5ft 5ins (1.6m) tall, with short blonde hair, wearing a grey, hooded tracksuit and holding a white helmet.

A second suspect was described as a white man, about 6ft 3ins (1.9m) tall, with dark curly brown hair on top with short back and sides, and wearing dark clothing.

It was thought the men may have left the field via Ripon Bypass, Gallows Hill, Quarry Moor Lane or the Morrisons car park, the spokesperson said.

Anyone with CCTV footage of the incident was also asked to contact North Yorkshire Police.
