A fourth man has been jailed for the part he played in the attempted murder of a 16-year-old boy who was shot as he rode his motorbike.

Philip Broadhurst, of Eccles, admitted grievous bodily harm with intent at Manchester Crown Court following the targeted attack in March 2023, police said.

The 28-year-old was jailed for 12 years.

Three other men were convicted of attempted murder in February after a two-month trial and each were jailed for 32 years.

The boy - who cannot be named for legal reasons - was riding his motorbike through Eccles and Salford when the three organised the attack.

He had been captured on CCTV making his way down Station Road towards Armitage Street, closely followed by another motorbike, which traced the route he had taken.

A few seconds later, two gunshots were heard.

The boy was injured by a single gunshot wound which went through his arm and into his chest.

He received treatment in hospital and was discharged a few days later.

Det Ch Insp Neil Higginson said: "Through diligent investigative work, we were able to identify the four men who had a hand in orchestrating and carrying out the attempted murder and who have all now been sentenced and remain behind bars.

"Violence on the streets of Manchester will not be tolerated."
