Dozens of homes planned for agricultural land

Up to 70 homes could be built on the land in Barton-under-Needwood

Dozens of homes could be built on agricultural land after plans for the development were submitted to a council.
The scheme would see up to 70 houses built on 4.5 hectares (11 acres) of land north of The Green in Barton-under-Needwood near Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire.
A planning application lodged with East Staffordshire Borough Council said existing agricultural buildings would be demolished as part of the project.
A statement with the application from Providence Land Ltd said the proposal would be "a high-quality development".
They said the site was also near key local amenities such as shops, a library, a pharmacy and schools.
Residents who wish to comment on the application can do so until 13 July.
