The contract with Gama Aviation is set to end in May

Jersey and Guernsey's governments have been searching for a new medical evacuation provider as its current supplier's contract comes to an end.

Gama Aviation has been providing emergency services since 2020, with its current contract to end in May.

The team takes patients from the Channel Islands to Southampton for emergency treatment which cannot be given in the islands.

Interested parties were asked to express their interest last month, and the governments would assess a potential supplier's eligibility.

The States of Guernsey said while its Health and Social Care was exploring shared opportunities, there was no obligation to make a joint decision with Jersey.

"The procurement process is designed to be flexible, allowing us to award a contract to a single supplier or to two separate suppliers, depending on what best meets the operational and commercial needs of each jurisdiction," it said.
