A city lido is operating on reduced capacity after one of its smaller swimming pools had to be closed.

The teaching pool at Peterborough Lido was closed off to swimmers last week due to an issue in the plant room, the city council confirmed.

It is one of three outdoor swimming pools at the lido, although the others have been operating normally during the busy season.

Councillor Alison Jones, cabinet member for housing and communities at Peterborough City Council, said: "It is a children's pool, so they have been using the shallow end of the main pool instead and we have reduced capacity slightly to accommodate."

The pool is expected to reopen later this week after repairs.

It was also shut for a short period of time in July due to a similar issue.

The city lido - which faced closure amid council's budget cuts - reopened for the 2025 season later than usual, at the end of May.

The pool is expected to shut for the year on 7 September, the city council said.
