Droves of dogs took the plunge at Jubilee Pool in Penzance as it hosted its annual Dog Day.

The Art Deco lido has hosted the event every year for the last seven years, organisers said.

The dog swim is followed by the pool's annual deep clean, and Penzance Council said swimmers would be welcomed back from 12 November.

Organisers of the event said most dogs were "quick to dive in at the deep end" while others needed "a bit of gentle persuasion".

The town council said it was "a long-term supporter" of the pool as a community facility and had allocated £40,000 towards its costs and subsidising entry for locals this financial year.
