Pedestrian, 82, dies after being hit by car

An 82-year-old pedestrian has died after she was hit by a car in Nottingham city centre.

The woman was involved in the crash at the junction of Mansfield Road and Union Road at 11:54 GMT on 10 November.

She was taken to hospital and died the following day, Nottinghamshire Police said.

The driver has been spoken to by police and inquiries are continuing.

Det Sgt Jo Eaton said the woman's family was being supported by specially trained officers.

"Our sincere thoughts and condolences are with the woman's family following this tragic incident," she added.

"[The woman's family] have asked people not to engage in online speculation about the incident."
