Plans for a new cricket pavilion have been unveiled as part of a housing project.

The proposed pavilion, external in Wood Burcote near Towcester, Northamptonshire, will feature a large central clubroom and a fully-equipped kitchen, alongside two separate changing rooms with toilets and an accessible washroom.

The development is part of a project by Persimmon to build 2,750 homes, and should include other amenities including schools, parks, a local centre, and leisure facilities.

West Northamptonshire Council has set a target decision date for the sports facility on 4 June.

The planning application, submitted at the start of March, details a facility designed to cater to the community's sporting and social needs.

The detailed plans, seen by the Local Democracy Reporting Service, also include extensive landscaping around the sports ground, featuring a winding footpath, a bridleway/cycleway adjacent to the site, and further decorative planting and hedgerows.

Access to the pavilion will be provided via a small hardstanding parking area located to the south of Wood Burcote Green.

Outline approval for the entire residential extension was first granted in 2015, and work on the development is ongoing.

The cricket pavilion is currently open for consultation, with public comments accepted until the end of April.
