Peterborough's very own contestant on The Traitors, Freddie, said "flirting" would be the secret to success.

A passenger at Peterborough railway station asked for safety improvements after she suffered cuts and bruises by tripping on a speed bump, and a drink-driver was filmed doing "donuts" in a snowy car park.

In sport, there was a unprecedented father-son rivalry tee'd up in the FA Cup... but it was up to Posh manager Darren Ferguson to make it happen.

The youngest contestant on the new series of The Traitors said he would use his age to his advantage and "maybe a bit of flirting to get where I need to be".

Freddie, 20, from Peterborough, reckoned studying politics at university would also help him to "bring evidence and articulate points" in the BBC One show.

A woman has called for urgent improvements to access at Peterborough railway station after a fall left her with serious cuts and bruises.

Anny Sherwood, 72, from Oakham, Rutland, said the fall - on an unmarked speed bump at Peterborough station - left her "shell-shocked".

She said she and husband Dennis had tried to contact London North Eastern Railways (LNER), which manages the station, since the incident but they felt "angry" at the lack of response.

A premature baby who was not expected to survive after being born at 22 weeks is thriving and "incredibly determined", her family has said.

Wren was the smallest baby the neonatal intensive care unit at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital had ever seen.

Wren's mum, Naomi Southern-Augustine, said it was "really rocky", but her daughter was a "miracle" and the family was "incredibly proud" of her.

Ferguson defends decision to not bring Young on against dad

There was disappointment for Peterborough United as they were knocked out of the FA Cup in a 2-0 defeat at Premier League side Everton.

Yet it was not the performance that Posh manager Darren Ferguson was asked to defend, it was his choice of substitutes.

Many fans and players were hoping he would play 18-year-old Tyler Young by bringing him on to face his own father, Ashley Young, who came on as a substitute for Everton.

Never in the 154-year history of the FA Cup have a father and son played against one another. That record still stands.

A week in Peterborough politics

A buyer was due to exchange contracts on the hotel in December but pulled out

The council said it was "hugely disappointed" after a buyer for the partially finished Hilton Garden Inn pulled out just a fortnight before contracts were due to be exchanged.

The Fletton Quays hotel's planned opening date was initially July 2019. The council said it was in conversation with two other potential buyers.

The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA) learned plans for a new footbridge linking Fletton Quays to the Embankment will cost £2m more than planners originally thought. It has been asked to increase its contribution to £5.4m.

More bad news for the CPCA: plans for seven new bus routes funded by the mayoral precept have been delayed, including the Peterborough Orbital service.

Staff at Peterborough Limited, a company owned by Peterborough City Council, threatened strike action after claiming they were yet to be offered a suitable pay increase.

A spokesperson for the company said its funding is predominantly driven from the council, which has been experiencing unprecedented pressure on its finances.
