A three-week-old baby boy has died in a crash between two cars.

A black Ford Focus and a black Suzuki Vitara crashed on the A451 between Kidderminster and Stourport in Worcestershire at about 00:10 BST on Saturday, West Mercia Police said.

The baby was in the Suzuki and died at the scene.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remained in custody, the force added.

Two other people who were in the Suzuki, a man and a woman, aged in their 20s, were taken to hospital for treatment.

Their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The driver of the Ford Focus was not hurt in the crash, officers said.

They added they wanted to hear from any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage from around the time the crash happened.

“A young baby boy has tragically died and our thoughts are very much with the baby’s parents and wider family at this incredibly distressing time," Insp Steph Arrowsmith said.
