Woman receives 179 birthday cards as she turns 102

A woman has celebrated her 102nd birthday with phone calls from around the world, a visit from her local mayor, and 179 cards.
Winnie Goode’s family and friends also threw her a party at Summerdyne Nursing Home, in Bewdley, for her birthday on Tuesday.
Ms Goode said the key to a long life was eating well, being sociable, and being happy.
“Don’t think about age. Just carry on,” she told BBC Hereford & Worcester.
Ms Goode’s son Chris was among the relatives at her party, while she also received phone calls from grandchildren in New Zealand, Canada and Dubai.
“I always say to my family: ‘Just keep in touch,’” she said.
“It’s nice to see that they still think about you, even though they’re a long way away.”
Ian Latimer, Bewdley’s mayor, attended the party and presented Ms Goode with a bunch of flowers.
Her son Chris said he was grateful for his “fantastic mum” and proud of her achievements.
“She’s looked after dad, she’s looked after us, she’s done a fantastic job. She’s always been on top of the game,” he said.
