A man has been arrested after a crash on the A2 left a man fighting for his life.

The three-vehicle crash happened on the road near Gravesend, heading coastbound, in the early hours of Sunday.

A 27-year-old man who was driving one of the cars was taken to a London hospital in a critical condition. His next of kin are aware, police added.

The driver of another vehicle, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital and was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink driving, but has since been released on bail.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said an investigation has been launched and anyone who saw the crash, or has footage, is being encouraged to contact the force.
