An investigation to establish the cause of a crash which resulted in the death of a father is continuing.

Aaron Tidey, 25, was driving an Audi A1 when the collision involving a lorry happened in the Burton-upon-Trent area at about 01:20 BST on 17 July.

Two people from the lorry had injuries not believed to be serious, the ambulance service previously said, following the crash on an A38 southbound slip road.

Family have paid tribute to "loving" Mr Tidey, who was taken to hospital but died from his injuries.

"As a family, we are all entirely devastated by the sudden loss of Aaron in such tragic circumstances," their statement said.

It added Mr Tidey was a "loving son to Carolyn and Craig", stepson, brother and father and would be "deeply missed by all".

Staffordshire Police, which released the statement, said its thoughts remained with the family and asked that "their privacy is respected as they continue to be supported by specially-trained officers".

Mr Tidey, who sustained serious head injuries, was taken to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, following the collision on the A38 southbound slip road towards the A5121.

One person from the lorry was conveyed to Royal Derby Hospital and the other was discharged at the scene.

The force said anyone who may have seen the crash, or those with dashcam footage, should contact officers.
