Tributes have been paid to a man whose death has prompted a murder investigation.

Francis Reilly, 63, who was known as Frankie, was pronounced dead at the scene after reports of a serious assault in Ingrave Road, Brentwood, on 12 September.

Mr Reilly's family said he was a "loving father, brother, grandfather, and uncle".

John Moore, 38, of Ingrave Road, appeared in court on Tuesday charged with Mr Reilly's murder.

Mr Moore will enter a plea at Basildon Crown Court on 26 November.

Essex Police previously said officers believed there was no threat to the wider community.

"He was greatly loved by his whole family and will be sadly missed," Mr Reilly's family added in a statement.

"We would ask for privacy at this time so we can continue to grieve as a family."
