Emergency services are continuing to search a reservoir for a father after a boat capsized on Thursday afternoon.

The man was on board with his teenage son at Draycote Water near Rugby when they both went into the water, Warwickshire Police said.

The son was quickly rescued and was found not to be injured, but the search for the father is ongoing, using various land and water search equipment.

A police spokesperson said officers were still at the scene on Friday afternoon along with colleagues from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.

They added teams were "working tirelessly" and asked that the public avoid the area so as not to distract searchers.

They also thanked the public for respecting the privacy of the family.

A spokesperson for Draycote Water said it would remain shut on Saturday, having been closed since the incident. This includes the sailing club, fishing club and restaurant.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said crews were called at 15:21 BST and found a teenage boy who had already been pulled from the water.

"He was assessed but did not require further treatment and was discharged at the scene," the spokesperson said.

"Following several hours of further searching alongside police and fire colleagues, no other patients were found, and our resources were scaled back."

Draycote Water is a 240-hectare reservoir and country park, drawing its water from the River Leam, which then supplies drinking water to Rugby and Coventry.

Watersports such as sailing and windsurfing are popular at the site, and it also attracts anglers.
