Police have released photographs of 12 people they want to speak to over riots which took place on Merseyside days after the deaths of three girls in Southport.

Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, were stabbed to death at a holiday club on 29 July.

Violent disorder then erupted in Southport, Liverpool city centre and Walton, along with other towns and cities across the UK, causing injuries to officers and widespread damage.

Merseyside Police said it believed the people captured in the CCTV images could have information to assist the ongoing investigation.

The force said 22 people had been charged in connections with the riots.

A number of suspects appeared in courts across the country on Friday.

Jordan Davies, 32, was jailed for two years after he was caught carrying a knife as he went to join a "mob" after the vigil in Southport for the stabbing victims on 30 July.

Det Supt Paul Speight said the courts were "acting swiftly to jail those who brought violence, destruction and hatred into our communities".

"If you believe you know any of these people pictured, or you recognise yourself in one of these images, please come forward," he said

“To anyone intent on causing disorder here I have one clear message: we will find you, and we will put you before the courts.”

Anyone who knows the people in the CCTV images is being urged to contact the force.
