Giant screen could broadcast Euros games in Jersey

A giant screen televising the Euro 2024 play-offs could be set up at a park in Jersey, the government has said.
All matches from Saturday 29 June will be broadcasted at Howard Davis Park subject to the Bailiff's permission.
The family-friendly zone will be free to enter and alcohol free, with the force asking fans to "drink responsibly" and not to compromise their safety or that of others at other venues.
Constable Andy Jehan, the Minister with responsibility for sport, said it had worked with the Jersey Football Association (JFA) to make sure the event would be "enjoyed by as many people as possible".
He said: "We want to create an environment where everyone can enjoy the thrill of the Euros, no matter who they support.
"Hopefully the pubs and bars will be packed, and this is an additional alternative which will be more family orientated, and will have a vibrant and exciting atmosphere."
'Bring people together'
Jimmy Kelly, Chair of JFA Board of Directors, said it would capture the "impact that a major sports event can have on the Jersey community".
He said: "Football is accessible to everyone and is an inclusive sport to bring people together.
"If previous international football competitions are anything to go by, we expect a significant increase in the number of people wanting to play, and we hope that this event will inspire islanders in the same way."
The area will open to islanders 45 minutes before kick-off, with games set to start at 17:00 and 20:00 BST.
The government said games "expected to attract large crowds" would be ticketed.
