Work to a demolish a former police station in Cornwall is under way.
Cornwall Council said the old Torpoint police station was set to become a "housing and a community hub".
The work is being led by the council in partnership with the Torpoint Town Project Board.
Plans for the new development were still being finalised and would go to a public consultation before work begins, the council said.
Councillor Olly Monk, portfolio holder for housing and planning, said the project would help "revitalise" the town centre.
He said the creation of new homes and new commercial and community space would help create "better connectivity between the existing town centre and its waterfront".
"It is so important that we continue to identify these opportunities for projects that will truly benefit communities across Cornwall," he said.
'Vibrant community hub'
Councillor Gary Davis, a member of Torpoint Town Council and chairman of the Town Team Project Board, said they aimed to keep any disruption during demolition work to a minimum.
Demolition work is expected to last for three to four months, the council said.
Mr Davis said: "We understand the importance of clear communication and will ensure that any necessary road closures are well-publicised in advance.
"Our vision is to transform this unused site into a vibrant community hub that will benefit residents and visitors alike.
"By repurposing this space, we are not only revitalising the area but also creating opportunities for social interaction, employment learning, and growth.”
