Police are urging Toyota car owners in Derbyshire to take "extra precautions" after a series of thefts.

Derbyshire Police said 10 Toyota Rav 4 cars had been taken from addresses across the county, including in Bakewell, Heanor and Ashbourne, between 2 October and Thursday morning.

Investigations are ongoing and proactive patrols in both marked and unmarked police cars are being stepped up, the force added.

Officers have advised owners of the cars to take extra precautions to keep their keys safe, particularly if their vehicles have keyless entry.

The force said vehicles had also been taken from addresses in Flagg, Creswell, Crich, Derby, Hatton, Matlock and Youlgreave.

As well as urging people to keep their keys safe, officers are encouraging car owners to use physical deterrents such as steering locks or parking in a garage.
