Polls open across Greater Manchester and east Cheshire

North West voters are heading to the polls to elect their local MP

People across Greater Manchester and east Cheshire are voting to elect their local MPs and help choose the UK's next government.

Polling booths opened at 07:00 BST in 27 constituencies across Greater Manchester, and 10 constituencies in Cheshire.

Three of those Cheshire constituencies are in the north east of the county, not including Warrington North and Warrington South.

Votes will be counted after the polls close at 22:00 BST.

The results for Greater Manchester constituencies are estimated to come in after 02:00 BST on Friday. In Cheshire, results are expected from 03:00 BST.
