Two held over attempted murder after shooting

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was shot.

Officers said a 20-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries following the incident on Aspinall Crescent, Salford, on Sunday.

A Section 60 order, which gives officers extra powers to stop and search people, was put in place in Worsley on Monday and will run until 00:45 BST on Wednesday.

Extra patrols have also been put in place.

“Our enquiries will remain ongoing until we have managed to gain a full understanding of the timeline of events," Det Ch Insp Gareth Humphreys of Greater Manchester Police's Salford district said.

“Extra patrol officers both on foot and in cars have been deployed around the local area.

“We are acting upon every piece of intelligence received. If there is any information you might have that could assist in this investigation, I would urge you to get in touch."
