The latest plans to build 83 homes on the edge of a Cotswold town have been unveiled.

Cala Homes has submitted a reserved matters application to build a new estate on a 19-acre site on Hatherop Road in Fairford.

If approved, a range of two- to five-bedroom homes will be built, including 33 affordable homes.

Outline planning permission was previously granted for the site and the latest proposals focus on the design of the new homes and the site’s layout.

Environmental measures

Every new home will be equipped with electric vehicle charging points and air source heat pumps, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS).

Cala says it also hopes to create an orchard, allotments and children's play area in addition to preserving important green spaces, along with nature-friendly elements in the buildings such as bird nesting spots, hedgehog-friendly fencing and bat boxes.

In addition to 83 units being erected in Phase 1, Phase 2 of the development would comprise four custom-build properties for those wishing to design their own home.

Cala has also said it would collaborate with landowner The Ernest Cook Trust to create a bursary fund to support local projects and groups.

Matthew Jeal, head of planning at Cala Homes Cotswolds, said: “We now look forward to receiving feedback on our reserved matters application for our development in Fairford that we hope exceeds expectations in terms of quality, sustainability, and community benefit.”
