Two people had to be rescued from a vehicle trapped in a rising tide.

It had become stuck in water near Sunderland Point on the Lancashire Coast, the RNLI said.

The charity added it had also had to rescue two people whose boat was sinking, and that it had attended multiple other incidents during the hot weather over the weekend.

It said it urged "anyone planning to venture out on the beach or into the water to ensure they are equipped with the appropriate safety gear and equipment".
