Pedestrian killed in crash is named by police

A pedestrian who died in a crash in Leeds has been named as 35-year-old Michaela Fowles.

Ms Fowles was involved in a collision with a blue VW Golf R in Thorpe Lane, Middleton, at about 21:40 BST on Friday, according to police.

Reece Lawrence, 29, of Raylands Way in Leeds, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop.

He appeared at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Monday and was remanded in custody until he is due to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 29 July.

In a statement, the family of Ms Fowles described her as a "beautiful daughter, sister and mum".

"She will always be in our hearts and never forgotten. Sleep tight, sweet girl," they added.
