A primary school pupil has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it happened on Park Lane, outside St Andrew's Primary School in Shifnal, at 07:53 BST on Thursday.

The boy, who is in Year 3, was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford with what the ambulance service said were "potentially serious injuries", but the school later reported he was "doing well and should be home soon".

The school also said West Mercia Police was carrying out an investigation.
