A man has been charged with rape following a police investigation into reports of "vulnerable" women being sexually assaulted at a care home in the Stamford area.

Joshua Kearney, 35, was charged on Sunday with three counts of rape and three counts of sexual activity against three women, including one with a mental disorder, Lincolnshire Police said.

Mr Kearney, from Stamford, appeared at Lincoln Magistrates' Court earlier and was remanded to appear at the city's crown court on 26 August.

A spokesperson for the force said it had chosen not to name the care home involved in order to protect the anonymity of the victims.

Mr Kearney was initially arrested and bailed in June following a report of a woman being sexually assaulted at the home.

The spokesperson said the police investigation was continuing.
