Dinosaur trail organisers slam 'mindless' vandals

The sculpture trail is the latest city centre attraction to have been targeted by vandals in recent years

The organisers of a dinosaur sculpture trail in Lincoln have been left “disappointed and annoyed” after a number of the exhibits were vandalised.

The Lincoln Business Improvement Group (BIG) set up Dino City as a free Easter activity to allow visitors to explore the city centre.

But caged fences, protecting the sculptures, have been left damaged and dented.

Lincolnshire Police said they were investigating reports of criminal damage.

CCTV footage is being investigated to try to identify those responsible for the damage

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, officials will continue with the display until 14 April, as planned.

Lee Roberts, Lincoln BIG operations manager, said "mindless individuals" were to blame and CCTV footage was being used to identify those responsible.

"Needless to say, we are extremely disappointed and annoyed that what is aimed to be a free, fun activity for families this Easter is potentially ruined," he said.

“We will not allow individuals to ruin the experiences of everyone else enjoying what our city has to offer."

The incident is the latest trail around the city to have been damaged by vandals.

Last year, a design on the St Barnabas Hospice HeART trail was vandalised five times in two weeks, resulting in it being removed from its original site.

In 2021, sculptures on the Lincoln Imp Trail were damaged, and Christmas decorations have had to be removed after being targeted in recent years.
