Medway Council has launched a mini 'Tour de Kent' to "bring people together to talk about climate issues".

The 34-mile (55km) cycle ride starts on Saturday from Rochester Cathedral and ends at Canterbury Cathedral.

It was launched by the council's climate response team and Active Medway.

Councillor Simon Curry, the council portfolio holder covering climate change, said the ride is for "seasoned cyclists" and "promotes the important topic of climate change".

Mr Curry said: “It also gives people an opportunity to take in some of the amazing views and landscapes we are lucky to have on our doorstep."

The Medway Climate Ride will take cyclists across country lanes, streets and cycle paths.

Riders are due to meet at 09:30 (BST) at Rochester Cathedral where Canon Dr Gordon Giles will say few words about the climate emergency.

They will then set off at 09:45 to make their way to Canterbury Cathedral.
