A library that was severely damaged by flooding is due to reopen.

West Swindon Library, which is located at the Link Centre, closed suddenly in September when flood water damaged most of the building.

Pool and gym facilities have since reopened and the library will open its doors later.

Swindon Borough Council has thanked "everyone for their patience and support while the team have been working to reopen the library".

The council said the library had suffered significant damage to its books, IT infrastructure, flooring and electrics. It will open from Tuesdays through till Saturdays in a reduced space, though the majority of the standard library services will be available.

Printing, scanning and photocopying services have yet to be restored and the team is working on this.

The council said the library would need to close again temporarily later in the year to allow significant electrical works to take place.
