'Erosion and cracks' close coastal path
- Published
A coastal path on the Jurassic Coast has been closed due to "erosion and cracks", the council has said.
The route, which runs along the top of eastern cliffs at West Bay, Bridport, has been cordoned off by Dorset Council for safety reasons.
The local authority said its rangers were monitoring the area and had been working with the neighbouring Bridport and West Dorset Golf Club to provide an alternative route for residents.
A Dorset Council spokesperson said the alternative path "will allow people to divert around the closed section of coast path".
The cliffs at West Bay have been plagued with problems in recent years with the council previously warning residents that "rockfalls and landslips" can happen at any time.
Most recently there were three rockfalls in the area in January.
