The Cannes Film Festival got under way on Tuesday, with a host of stars walking the red carpet ahead of the opening ceremony.
Greta Gerwig, Lily Gladstone, Meryl Streep, Jane Fonda and Lea Seydoux were among the stars who posed for pictures.
The festival opened with the premiere of French film Le Deuxieme Acte (The Second Act).
The two-week festival will see other premieres, parties and press conferences take place, as pundits watch to see which movies might become Oscar contenders.
