A new GP practice has opened inside a leisure centre.

It will replace the GP surgery that closed in Highley, Shropshire, in 2023.

Dr Jess Harvey from Shropshire's Primary Care Network said basing it inside the Severn Centre was an "innovative" approach.

Work to create the surgery began in January and Dr Harvey said the project had been a "real collaboration" and thanked Halo Leisure, which runs the centre, for its help.

She said the aim of the move had been to "bring healthcare closer to communities"

The surgery includes four consulting rooms, two treatment rooms and a reception and waiting area.

The library service will move to a different part of the building, to make way.

A celebratory event is due to be held on Saturday to mark the opening.
