A courier who was attacked by a dog while delivering parcels said she thought she was "done for".

Sarah Bound, from Brynmenyn, Bridgend, was taken to hospital after police were called to the scene on the A4063 in the Coytrahen area of the town at about 13:20 BST Monday.

The 39-year-old was on a regular delivery route for Evri, but said it "suddenly went wrong" when she arrived at a house she had delivered to before.

"I honestly felt like I was in a film... it was absolutely horrific and the pain was ridiculous," she said.

Ms Bound said she initially heard the dog bark, before it "just jumped up over the fence and came straight at me and cornered me in the doorway".

She described the dog as being like a sheep dog, adding it only stopped attacking her after its owner came round the corner and pulled it off her.

"If she hadn't come round, that dog would have carried on attacking me and it would have been a much worse case scenario," she said.

The attack left her with three puncture wounds, scars and bruises.

She was taken to hospital and given a tetanus vaccine and antibiotics.

"I'm still having shooting pain in my arms four days later and it's still bleeding," she said.

Sarah Bound has taken time off work to recover from her injuries

Ms Bound said the attack had affected her mentally, as well as physically.

"It's weird, I deal with dogs every day and I've never been scared of them, but now I'm not so sure, it really makes you double think," she said.

"I've been thinking, what if it was a child, what if the owner didn't appear, it's a really bizarre situation to be in and my friends and partner tell me I don't seem right."

She added that she did not blame the dog or the owner, but wanted to make sure no one else got hurt.

"I might have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, but something has to be done about the dog," she said.

"I haven't heard from the owner since and I don't think that's right. I hope that changes, because this can't happen to anyone else."
